Center History and Veterinarians
For over
thirty years, the doctors and staff at the
Animal Medical Center of Hattiesburg
have provided pets with individualized
comprehensive health care plans and pet
owners in South Mississippi with exceptional
customer service.
Dr. L.N.
Ritter founded the Animal Medical Center
of Hattiesburg during the 1950’s. In 1975,
Dr. John Mayfield and Dr. William Ewell
purchased the hospital from Dr. Ritter upon
his retirement. Dr. Cliff Lowrey joined the
Partners in 1980. During the 1990’s, Dr.
Ewell left the Animal Medical Center
to start his own practice. Dr. Paul Calhoun
joined the Animal Medical Center upon
Dr. Ewell’s departure. Dr. Randall Patrolia
joined Animal Medical Center in 2000,
as an associate. Dr. John Mayfield, III and
Dr. Nathan Moseley joined Animal Medical
Center as associates in 2005.
Dr. John
Mayfield.
Dr. Mayfield is a native of Taylorsville,
Mississippi. He attended Mississippi State
University for his undergraduate studies
before transferring to Auburn University.
Dr. Mayfield received a Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University
in 1974. His areas of special interest in
veterinary medicine, include orthopedic and
neurosurgery. He is a member of MVMA and
AVMA. He is an active member of Temple
Baptist Church. He resides in Hattiesburg
with his wife Sandy. They have three
children and two granddaughters. He has one
dog he adopted from Love and First Sight
named “Mama Dog.”
Dr. Paul
Calhoun.
Dr. Calhoun is a native of Dermott,
Arkansas. He attended Montrose Academy in
Montrose, Arkansas. Upon graduation, he
attended Mississippi State University and
received his Bachelor of Science from the
College of Agriculture and Home Economics in
1980. He received his Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine from the Mississippi
State University College of Veterinary
Medicine in 1986. He opened and operated
Animal Care Veterinary Hospital in
Hattiesburg in 1988, and merged with the
Animal Medical Center of Hattiesburg in
1993. He is a member of MVMA and AVMA. Dr.
Calhoun is a member of Temple Baptist
Church. He resides in Hattiesburg with his
wife, Stephani. They have three daughters,
one grandson
and two dogs, “Goochi,” a Shih Tzu and
“Cannon” a golden retriever.
Dr. Cliff
Lowrey. Dr Lowrey is a native of
Montgomery, Alabama. He received his
Bachelor of Science in animal dairy science
from Auburn University. He obtained his
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn
University College of Veterinary Medicine in
1980. Dr. Lowrey joined the Animal
Medical Center in 1982. He operates the
satellite clinic of Animal Medical Center
in Petal. The satellite clinic is named
Petal Animal Clinic. He is a member of
MVMA, ALVMA and AMVA. Dr. Lowrey attends
Temple Baptist Church. He resides in
Hattiesburg with his wife, Mimi and their
two daughters. He has three dogs, Kelly,
Squirt, and Buster.
Dr. Randall
Patrolia
Dr. Patrolia
is a native of Chalmette, Louisiana. He
received his Bachelor of Science degree in
Biology from Mississippi State University.
He received a Doctorate in Veterinary
Medicine from Mississippi State University
College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He
worked in a small animal practice in
Picayune, Mississippi, for three years prior
to joining the Animal Medical Center
in 2000. He is a member of AVMA and MVMA.
He resides in Hattiesburg with his wife,
Alison, and their two sons, Philip, and
Matthew. They attend Sacred Heart Catholic
Church. They live with their three cats,
“Clairese, Emily and Angus,” and their black
lab, “Parker.”
Dr. John
Mayfield, III. Dr. Mayfield, III is a
native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was
employed by Animal Medical Center as
a technician prior to being accepted to
Mississippi State University College of
Veterinary Medicine. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture
Engineering. He received his Doctorate in
Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State
University College of Veterinary Medicine in
2005. His area of special interest in
veterinary medicine includes CT scan and
interpretation. He is a member of AVMA and
MVMA. He attends Temple Baptist Church. He
resides in Hattiesburg with his four dogs,
Cain, Cowboy, Buddy, and Bama.
Dr. Nathan
Moseley. Dr. Nathan Moseley is a native
of Moselle, Mississippi. Petal Animal
Clinic employed him for three years as a
technician prior to him being accepted to
Mississippi State University College of
Veterinary Medicine. He received his
Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from
Mississippi State University College of
Veterinary Medicine in 2005. His special
interest in veterinary medicine includes
ultrasound. He is a member of AVMA and MVMA.
He attends Petal Harvey Baptist Church. He
resides in Petal with his wife Tracey. They
live with their cat, Chloe, and their three
dogs, Cole, Charla, and Red. |
